As I mentioned at the end of class on Wednesday, I'd like you to share the topic(s) you're considering for the blog project. Just describe your interests in a sentence or two, and take a look at everyone's ideas to see if you may be able to form a group based around a shared topic. I really would like to create a blog that goes over the ins and outs of flipping houses in Dallas. The blog will provide resources such as DIY project info, contractor contacts, design tips, flooring sales, appliance sales, lenders to work with, break down of cash requirements, etc.
ReplyDeleteI have always been a big foodie, and love trying new recipes/restaurants. I’d like to have a blog that talks about local restaurants that Dallas has to offer, or just any dish that’s exotic and special.

ReplyDeleteI love DIY/crafting projects, and when I was preparing to move into a dorm, I couldn't find anything specific to my situation. I'd love to make a blog that shows craft/storage ideas for dorms/ small apartments.
ReplyDeleteI've been kicking around two ideas, haven't decided yet which I like better. For one, I bought a Scandinavian cookbook recently and would love to go through that. I couldn't decide if this wasn't a narrow enough sort of scope, though, so then I was thinking of making meals that you find in novels (for example, the Game of Thrones series has lots of really vivid descriptions of meals), but then I was thinking that this might be too narrow. Something with food, though, obviously.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely interested in some sort of music blog. I haven't been able to tighten my focus yet, as I'm not sure if it should be something like a blog for production tutorials or something more like a critique blog. Music is my passion in every way, I just don't know how to write about it, or have yet to find a way that writing about it may help my own endeavors with music. I know everyone loves music, it's fascinating how pitches in patterns can be enough to make you tap your foot without even realizing, and I suppose I just need some brain storm on how I'd like to blog about this. I am open to any other ideas, or maybe a critique or "how to" is right on spot.

I want to keep a blog about upcoming music, where I give my take on a new song, band or album that I am interested in. Listening to new music already takes up a lot of my time so this would easily be fun and manageable. --Swikar Oli
ReplyDeleteI haven't come to a final conclusion about my subject choice, but I am stuck between two.
ReplyDeleteSince I am a loyal (and extremely passionate) Miami Heat fan, I thought about either a blog on the upcoming NBA season in general. Another option would be going more generalized and doing the Miami Heat specifically (updates, scores, player information, news, predictions etc….and same ideas would be done for if I were to do the NBA in general).
My other idea is horoscopes. I have always been interested in people's personalities, and how these people and their personalities are affected by horoscopes and things of that nature. So this, and discussions on all topics horoscopes would also be something interesting for me to blog on too.
I'm not particularly set on a blog topic idea yet, but I think it would be cool to do a blog about different types of graphic designs from different sites. I could take ideas that I like from the different sites that I end up stumbling upon, take a sample of their work, review/give an opinion of what I think of their work, and just do that everyday to show how many different styles there are. It would be a good learning experience overall since I may want to end up doing something in graphic design. However, reading through the comments, I like @morganchafer's idea as well about horoscopes. I also like to learn about people's personalities and find it interesting how personalities clash and which are compatible. I used to read my horoscope and others for fun, but overall, it is still intriguing to me. - Sophia Miao
ReplyDeleteI always have been interested in music, and I love to listen to all kinds of music. (I'm kind of picky on genres, but as long as it's not heavy metal, I enjoy it most of the time). I'm thinking about doing a blog of music, but I'm not quite sure about the details and how I'm going to start a blog about music.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of ideas but am not necessarily sold on either one and am willing to do something completely different.
ReplyDeleteMy first idea would a volunteer blog. Ideally it would detail how to apply for opportunities in one post and an over view of the volunteer experience in a second post.
The other idea would be a vacation blog where I/we could compile vacation ideas and plan them from start to finish.
My blog will definitely be about the doomsday prophecies. I figured it would have the largest audience, well anyone who values living. I want to sequence between validating and disproving the many theories associated with 2012. I will also inject some comic relief, when providing daily survival tips, that will literally have nothing to do with surviving. I really just tried to find a topic where I could have the biggest audience/everyone in the class would be interested. But if we still need this blog, for next semester, i'll be at a distinct disadvantage.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of ideas for my blog that are sort of related, the first one deals with the classic cocktail/ pre-prohibition scene that has been popping up everywhere recently. Since this is the industry I am in, I know a lot about this topic already, but I love reading the stories and learning the history of how some of the most popular cocktails came to be. My second topic would be craft beer, particularly small batch and home brewing. I absolutely love to try new beers, and many of the great craft beers also have a pretty cool story to go along with them. I would also like to try my hand at home brewing, which some of my closest friends already have. I think it would be cool to have a blog to kind of follow the home brewing process.
